Seasonal Installation Team Member
Location: Flourtown shop, clients job sites
Department: Production – Installation
Reports To: Installation Team Foreman
Requirements
● Heavy lifting (+50lbs) and physical w ork in hot & cold conditions
● Valid driver’s license & ability to get to shop
● Passion for sharing the homegrown food experience with others
Pay & Benefits
● $20/hour
● Cell phone reimbursement – $80/month (will use phone for work)
● Personal vehicle mileage reimbursement if needed (we have our own trucks)
● Employee run garden & food forest at our shop
Schedule
This is a full-time, seasonal position from February through September. The work day begins at 8:00am – 4:30am with two, paid 10 minute breaks and one 30 minute unpaid lunch. Overtime is available with approval but not expected to be regular. Because we work outside, there is a chance weather would keep us from working, but this is a rare case. This is an all weather job.
Position Summary
A Backyard Eats Installation Team Member is tasked with making dream gardens a reality. The position involves equal parts teamwork and building knowledge. You will work within the Backyard Eats garden building, planting, planning and maintenance systems to deliver clients a custom experience from the installation to the planted garden. At different times during the season, Installation Team members will be asked to join planting & maintenance during seasonally demanding times.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Backyard Eats is a small and growing company with ever changing needs. Exact position responsibilities frequently change and other duties may be assigned. Each employee has shop responsibilities in addition to their basic role.
Daily
● Perform garden installations to specification as member of installation team
● Drive to Flourtown shop and leave for clients sites in company truck
● Communicate with clients and office daily
Weekly
● Attend weekly installation team meetings
● Work with office manager to optimize maintenance schedule and client communication
Monthly
● Maintain vehicle needs by checking fluids and servicing
● Care for tools and materials needed for job
● Meet with Foreman for performance reviews and growth opportunities

You will work within the Backyard Eats planting, planning and maintenance systems to deliver clients a custom experience from spring planting through garden clean up. At different times during the season, Maintenance Team members will be asked to join installation during seasonal lulls in maintenance or enhanced needs in installation.

Join our team of professionals creating a new industry in Philadelphia. We design, install, and maintain attractive and functional gardens that yield high-quality fruit & produce in our clients backyards. We are a fast paced & growing business looking for long term employees to help continue to build Backyard Eats into a key driver in broadening the participation in the homegrown food movement for our employees, clients & communities.
Our install crews build the gardens, and our maintenance team plants and maintains them. We call it full service food gardening, and it has allowed us to deliver successful gardening experiences and change lives for hundreds of clients in the Philadelphia area over the last 8 years. We are looking to add to our team of gardeners and professionals.

Pay & Benefits
- Pay varies per position and experience. Raises are merit/performance based
- Paid vacation (varies based on tenure)

Location
Our shop is located in Flourtown, PA. All employees arrive at the shop each morning and depart to work sites from here.
Trial Period
For every role, we include a 90-day trial period to get to know each other and decide if we are a good fit for each other.
