Gardens With Purpose

Group gardens need more than soil and plants—they require thoughtful design around who will use the space, how it will be used, and why it exists. These spaces often involve more than growing; they include volunteer organization, education, and long-term planning to ensure they thrive.

School & Community Gardens

School and community gardens are especially close to our hearts. They bring people together, foster learning, and create meaningful connections. Our role varies by project—we may design and build the garden, or simply lend our expertise in planning, volunteer coordination, grant writing, budgeting, and permitting. Whatever the need, we help transform vision into a thriving community space.

High School Service Garden

This school wanted a garden to teach students about nature and give back to the community. Backyard Eats built a raised bed garden and berry trellis, which is now tended by a school club that donates produce to local communities in need.

Organizational Gardens

An edible garden at a workplace or community living establishment enrich the community by boosting morale, promoting wellness, and fostering collaboration. They can be a living symbol of sustainability and teamwork, while providing employees & tenants with a refreshing space to connect. We support with design, planning, and organization, as well as education that helps gardeners engage and grow alongside the garden.
